Mukundgarh also called Mukandgarh, has some of the finest frescoes and murals in the entire Shekhawati region comprising of Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Mandawa and Mukundgarh. Collectively this entire region is also referred to as an Open Art Gallery. The Mukundgarh village was founded in the 18th century by Raja Mukand Singh and has now grown into a charming town of royal Rajasthan.
The town is rustic and there are abundant jeep, camel and horse safaris available to enjoy the beauty of sand dunes. A dinner under the stars out in the sand dunes, accompanied by torch light and folk performances, is an experience to be cherished. The three havelis or painted mansions of Kanoria, Ganeriwal and Saraf are visited by all tourists to this region for their beauty and fine example of colors’ usage.
The Mukundgarh Fort is now a heritage hotel and is your opportunity for a luxurious stay while discovering the charms of Shekhawati. The town has ample folk dance and music performances to keep a visitor engrossed, besides also having shopping avenues that stock crafts of the region like tie & dye fabrics, puppets, and furniture. The paintings of the havelis are recreated on cloth and paper and make an excellent buy.
I wish to visit Jhunjhunu
