Umaid Bhawan Palace of Jodhpur is one of the largest private residences on the planet. Managed by Taj Hotels, this palace hotel was named after Maharaja Umaid Singh. The heritage hotel is an epitome of lavishness and gratifies the taste of even the most extravagant travelers.
The stunning red stone palace was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 20th century with a purpose to give employment to people. Based on a hill top, the Umaid Bhawan Palace gave a new meaning to luxury from the time of its construction itself. It took over 5000 workers more than 16 years to complete it. Its Indo-Art Deco style broke with the convention of Rajputana architecture; however the palace still had separate residences for males and females according to medieval traditions.
The renowned architecture, Henry Lanchester took over the charge of designing this masterpiece with a mix of eastern and western architectural influences. Spread over a lavish 26 acres, Umaid Bhawan Palace has an amazing 15 acres dedicated to the greens and the built up area is just 3.5 acres. The Palace houses a fine collection of hunting trophies and it has a fountain made of Baccarat crystal! The cascading water of the fountain strikes a different and compatible, musical note each time it falls.
Guests planning a stay at this heavenly hotel can choose from 22 Palace Rooms and 42 Suites. Rooms here showcase impressive views of the palace gardens. Each room has been adorned with utmost perfection with all kind of lavish amenities. The hotel has all kinds of well facilities too like fitness center, yoga facility, large indoor and outdoor pools. Dining at Umaid Bhawan Palace is a royal affair. You can fall for gluttony at ‘Risala’, serving continental and fusion Indian cuisines.
