 A town existing since the medieval times, Kota has kept up its march into modernity. Once a city of forts, palaces and crafts, it is now also a city of education institutions and small scale industries.
Existing as long back as the 12th Century, Kota as first a part of the principality of Bundi, ruled by the Hada clan. Later in the seventeenth century, Kota became separate and also was recognised for Rajput gallantry during this period.
Kota is known for its distinct style of painting that finds favor with art connoisseurs the world over. Besides painting, Kota is known for its fine Kota Doriya saris that are light as the breeze.
